I LOVE GARAGE SALES! One family’s trash is most certainly my most treasured treasure. This week I found some dirty white cabinet doors and I decided they would be perfect for my dining room…which is connected to my kitchen, my family room and my bedroom. Oh, the beautiful compacted-ness of apartment living!
DIY APARTMENT DECORATING;
CHALKBOARD CUPBOARD DOORS
What You Need:
- Cupboard doors, wiped clean
- Painters Tape
- Chalkboard Paint (I used spray)
LET’S GET STARTED!
1)Remove all knobs and set aside.
2)You can see I’ve already started taping. Make an outline with tape of where you want your chalkboard paint to be vs. where you want your regular paint.
Corners can be difficult, but using a lot of smaller strips makes rounded edges much easier to outline.
3)Make sure you’re painting on newspaper or something you don’t really mind getting painted, and stand back a bit if you’re using spray like I did. It’s better to do a couple thin coats than to do one really thick one, because chances are it will drip and dry with bumps or air bubbles.
Let this dry for AT LEAST 24 HOURS before taking the tape off. Once the chalkboard paint is dry, re-tape the doors for your other colors of paint. Let all coats of paint dry before screwing the knobs back in.
4)Before writing on the board, cover it completely with your chalk, and wipe it clean.
5) Hang it up, girl.
SO MANY USES!
Happy chalking, all. -BCG
