We can’t afford a real tree, we can’t afford a fake tree. So we made ours with what we had laying around after Friday night.
DIY BEER CAN CHRISTMAS TREE
WHAT YOU NEED:
hot glue
empty beer cans
First, we made the base (tree trunk) by gluing FourLoco’s and Joose cans together.
Next, we had to plan out the bottom layer by making a framework. We made a circle of cans with a diameter of 7 cans and glued only the cans around the perimeter to each other.
For the next layer, we had to stack a few layer a few cans to establish the higher ring.
The easiest way to do this is by gluing the bottom ring on the can you’re attaching, or just the top ring on the can you’re attaching the new can to.
For the second layer, we glued the cans to each other, but also to the cans underneath for added stability.
For the third and fourth rings, we did the same thing, just with less cans per layer. This is debatably more simple than setting up a fake tree.
Once we finished gluing the last can for the top layer, we cut out a big cardboard piece put underneath the “branches”. This made it much easier to transport, as the base and tiers weren’t connected by glue but were easier to stack.
If you’ve got any ideas for a DIY tree star for the top, send ’em my way. Otherwise, Happy Holidays from BCG ❤
